THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES FEE WAYBILL LEGENDARY FRONTMAN FOR 'THE TUBES'

FEE WAYBILL OF 'THE TUBES'
IS THE SPECIAL GUEST
ON THE RAY SHASHO RADIO SHOW

Our very special guest today is the legendary frontman for The Tubes … Fee Waybill.

Born John Waldo Waybill in Omaha, Nebraska, the name Fee came by way of a bass player who thought Waybill looked like the King of Fiji, pictured on the cover of a National Geographic magazine, and began calling him “Fiji” which eventually was shortened to Fee.
Fee was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona where he sang and acted in elementary school assemblies which led to musical comedies in high school and then on to Arizona State University as a drama major.
After moving to the mountains of northern Arizona to find his muse and living on brown rice and imagination he was enticed, without much difficulty, into being a roadie for the “Red White and Blues Band” on their way to San Francisco to make it big in the music business. Fee started singing background vocals and eventually the band combined with another Arizona band to become “The Tubes” in 1973 with Fee as frontman and lead singer.
The Tubes recorded ten LPs for A&M and Capitol Records from 1974 to 1985 and were headliners on their first tour, with 8 dancers, 7 band members, 6 onstage TV monitors, wild acts and an entourage of 35 including a pyrotechnic advisor, a video supervisor and two costume mistresses.

In 1984, Fee recorded his first solo album “Read My Lips” and collaborated for the first time with Richard Marx. The pair has gone on to co-write over thirty songs for their own projects as well as for other artists.
Fee left The Tubes after the 1985-86 tour to write and act and take a break from 14 years of touring. Moving to Los Angeles in 1986, Fee has since written lyrics for movie soundtracks as well as musical artists such as The Tubes, Richard Marx, Kenny Loggins, Toto, Steve Lukather, Pat Leonard, Vixen, Emerson Drive and others. Since 1991, Fee has won six BMI Performance Popularity Awards in recognition of his outstanding songwriting.

His acting credits include Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures, Ladies and Gentleman the Fabulous Stains, Private Eye, Bouncers, SCTV, MTV guest VJ appearances, along with three books on tape and various voice-overs on commercials.
1994 brought The Tubes back together with Fee for a long tour of Europe and a welcome reunion. The band has continued to play their unique brand of rock and roll, adding new songs to the mix of the already popular.

“Don’t be Scared by These Hands” was released in 1996, Fee’s second solo CD, followed in 1997 by the eleventh Tubes release, “Genius of America”, the twelfth, Tubes World Tour 2001 and latest CD and DVD release in 2004, The Tubes Wild West Show.
Fee continues to live in Los Angeles. He enjoys scuba diving, water skiing and hiking with his dog. He is also an avid polo player and owns four horses. He supports animal rights causes and participates in a number of celebrity charity events each year including Richard Marxs’ CF charity show, Alice Coopers’ Solid Rock Foundation Golf Tournament and ESPNs’ annual charity golf tournament. His interests also include Mayan ruins, history and art of the American West.
Fee is also a member (aka “Barnie”) of The Barn Theatre in Augusta MI, the oldest for profit summer stock theatre in the US, and has reprised his role as Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show six times.

Since Fee’s first tenure at the Barn Theatre in 1999 he has revived the theatrical presentation of The Tubes show including props and more than ten costume and character changes in the current show. After a busy summer schedule Fee is thrilled to take a break and reprise his role, for the 6th time, as Frank Furter at the Barn. Fee says, “It’s like a vacation for me to come back to The Barn to do Rocky again, it’s so much fun and I feel so welcome. I guess old “Barnies” never die they just start stumbling over their lines, and high heels”.
In July 2015, The Tubes started a 40th anniversary European tour, including dates in Germany, Sweden and the UK. Dates in the U.S. followed.
Some of The Tubes biggest hits include …"Don't Touch Me There" "White Punks
on Dope" "Prime Time" "Don't Want to Wait Anymore" "Talk to Ya Later" "Gonna Get It Next Time" "She's a Beauty" "Tip of My Tongue" "The Monkey Time" and "Piece by Piece."

The Tubes continue touring the U.S and Europe in 2016.

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOME BLUES GUITARIST-SINGER AND SONGWRITER ALBERT CASTIGLIA

RAY SHASHO WELCOMES
BLUES ARTIST
A L B E R T  C A S T I G L I A
TO THE SHOW

Our Very Special Guest Today is blues guitarist, singer and songwriter
Albert Castiglia.

Castiglia arrived on the International radar after Buddy Guy's iconic harp-blower, Junior Wells, heard the young bluesman sing and invited him into his solo band for several world tours. The gig was a shop-window, and though Wells sadly died in 1998, Albert stayed busy, joining the great Atlanta vocalist, Sandra Hall, for national tours in the late-'90s, while he held his own in onstage jams with artists ranging from Pinetop Perkins to John Primer. He has been named "Best Blues Guitarist" by Miami New Times, the respected alternative music magazine and honored by Roots Music Report with a Top Blues Album of 2011 and 2012. Castiglia was Born in New York and raised in Miami to an Italian father and Cuban mother, Albert Castiglia combines all influences to create his unique style of modern day blues with a traditional core.

After five acclaimed albums and decades of blazing blues-rock shows, you might argue that you've already made Albert’s acquaintance. But by the Florida bandleader's own admission, Big Dog is the first release to truly get under his skin. "I just wanted to make a record that best represented who I am, as a musician, singer, guitarist and live artist," explains Albert. "With every release, I've come close, but this time, producer Mike Zito helped me nail it. He and label boss Thomas Ruf wanted me to make a raw, rocking blues record. That's what I'm about. That's who I am..."

Released in 2016 on Ruf Records, Big Dog confirms that Albert is a different breed to the lightweights who dominate the modern music scene. At 46, he's slugged his way into contention the old-fashioned way: writing from his heart, bleeding into his performances, eating up the road. "I have no illusions about what kind of guitar player and singer I am," he states. "My style is raw, unadulterated, crude and heavy. I don't have the technical proficiency of other players, but I play what's in my heart and what I feel at that moment. When I write songs, they have to mean something."

Recorded at Dockside Studios, Louisiana, there's not an ounce of fat on Big Dog's eleven tracks, with Albert darting between self-penned originals, cherished covers and co-writes with some of his closest compadrés. "You could smell the mojo in the sweet Southern air," reflects Albert, "and you could feel the mojo in the recording studio. We had a studio-savvy band with an incredible amount of soul, and Mike's role as producer was the wildcard."
In 2014, Ruf debut Solid Ground was declared "smouldering and intense" by The Blues Magazine. Now, Big Dog ups the ante, offering eleven new songs to get your teeth into, and supported by a full international tour that promises bark and bite. If you thought you knew Albert Castiglia, you don't know the half of it. "I think this album is a major game-changer for me," he says. "No matter what happens after Big Dog's release, I'll always be proud of it. When we tour this album, you can expect a balls to the wall, rockin' blues show. Expect to get what I've always given you - my 100%..."

It is my great pleasure to welcome blues great and perhaps a legend in the making … Albert Castiglia to the Ray Shasho Show.

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES MILES COPELAND III LEGENDARY MUSIC EXECUTIVE

MILES COPELAND III
MUSIC MOGUL-MANAGER FOR THE POLICE-STING-ANDERSONPONTY BAND
One of the music industry's most influential figures, Miles Copeland's career in management stretches back 44 years to 1969 in London where he represented progressive rock bands such as Wishbone Ash, Al Stewart, Climax Blues Band, Renaissance, Curved Air, and Caravan until he jumped ship, landed in the turbulent ocean of punk, and worked with the Sex Pistols, the Clash, Blondie, and many many more. In 1978, he became manager of his Brother Stewart's band, The Police and shepherded them to become one of the biggest bands of the 1980s.

The success of The Police and the novel methods used to break them enabled Miles to found I.R.S. Records. In the next few years, the company had hits with The Buzzcocks, The English Beat, The Cramps, Fine Young Cannibals, Wall of Voodoo, Timbuk 3, R.E.M. and a number one album with the all-girl group, The Go-Gos. He continued to manage Sting (solo) through seven blockbuster albums and introduced Sting to Algerian singer, Cheb Mami. Their collaboration bloomed with "Desert Rose" whose worldwide success was attributed to Miles' innovative corporate deal with Jaguar. In all, Miles can rightfully claim to have been involved in the sale of over 150 million albums. Miles currently owns and operates CIA - Copeland International Arts.

GINGER GILMOUR TALKS
'MEMOIRS OF THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THE MOON'

Our Very Special Guest Today is author, sculptor, artist and poet
GINGER GILMOUR

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Ginger Gilmour & Matthew Gilmour created a multi-media phenomenon--1 Book, 2 Albums simultaneously & coincidently released. Ginger Gilmour released her book 'Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon'. Matthew Gilmour (son of David and Ginger) released his album titled 'The Grey'. David Gilmour released his solo album 'Rattle that Lock'.
"Despite living in separate houses, separate lives, the Family Affair still carries on creatively," says Ginger with a smile. "It is such an energetic period to be living, especially watching our children's artistic flowering within the wings of our support," she adds.
Matthew Gilmour released his first solo album titled 'The Grey' which received high acclaim from all who have listened. "I am extremely proud of him. He has climbed a great mountain," says Ginger. "It has been amazing to watch him grow into the artist he has become. It is only the beginning," she adds. Matthew's website is www.matthewgilmour.com
The album contains 11 cuts containing 10 of Matthew's original material, recorded in Texas at the private recording studio of musician/producer Danny Johnson of Steppenwolf and tweaked and mastered by James Guthrie of Pink Floyd fame. "Matthew is someone to be reckoned with. The world needs to hear his music!" says James.

'Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon' is Ginger's personal way of thanking David for such a wonderful adventure-filled life (a story never told before).
It consists of 653 pages, 140 photographs and 90 descriptive stories as she walks us thru individual chapters of her life ... glimpsing her heart as you meander down the hallways of her life, pausing & peeking inside a closet or two. A one of a kind life that takes you to secret beach hideaways in the Greek Islands to a remote Middle Eastern village where the likes of Mick Jagger frolic within a hidden world unknown to fans. Ginger's life has crossed paths with a list of Rock n' Roll's biggest stars, spiritual teachers, therapists, friends AND adversaries who have helped to guide her to Live, Let go, Forgive and Love God.
Her self-published book itself has been described as a work of art by fans who have already received it. The book is Not a Tell-All but a collection of self-revealing stories of love, truth, motherhood and creativity. Through her artwork and self-belief that she shares, it is evident Ginger's passion is to uplift others' hearts beyond the challenges and to remember the Beauty that they are.
It is a must have for those who want to glimpse the other side of the Wall. It is brimming with content that will enlighten anyone who was part of that Rock n Roll Era or has ever dreamt that they could have been.

THE RAY SHASHO RADIO SHOW WELCOMES THE PRODIGIOUS DUO OF GARY LUCAS(Captain Beefheart) & JANN KLOSE

GARY LUCAS & JANN KLOSE
ARE THE SPECIAL GUESTS ON
THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

Our Very Special Guests Today are Gary Lucas …American guitarist/songwriter/composer and record producer and collaborating partner Jann Klose …singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Both artists are eclectic musicians that tour throughout the world on their own.

On January 8th, 2016 guitarist Gary Lucas and singer Jann Klose released 10 songs they’ve collaborated on the past three years. Their new release STEREOPTICON was recorded in New York City’s premiere analog studio The Maid’s Room in September 2014 and June 2015.

Jann says “A Stereopticon is a classic slide projector that combines two images to create a three-dimensional effect. The title fit since there are the two of us and the album was recorded live on two-inch tape, the classic analog recording technique.“
Gary explains how the two create their new songs, “There is a lot you can do with just voice and guitar; we took influences from all over the Americana spectrum, and added a few odd surprises.”

“Secret Wings” was one of their first collaborations. Jann says, “it’s about the City beating you down and making it through the noise and craziness, especially in New York City!” Created by DeAngela Napier, “Secret Wings” is the duo’s new music video and available on YouTube. “Secret Wings” features scenes of the City, from jarring cabs and graffiti to comfort zones like Jann and Gary playing at the Rockwood Music Hall and breathing in Central Park.

STEREOPTICON is produced by Jann, Gary, and Dan Beck, who call themselves “Dr. Tre.”

Gary Lucas has co-written hits with artists Joan Osborne: “Spider Web,” and Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” and “Mojo Pin.” He’s worked extensively with Captain Beefheart. ROLLING STONE Magazine says Gary is, “One of the best and most original guitarists in America…a modern guitar miracle.” His long-awaited GARY LUCAS’ FLEISCHEREI: MUSIC FROM MAX FLEISCHER CARTOONS released this month. It's music from Max Fleischer's Betty Boop and Popeye cartoons—Lucas says …there are a whole bunch of songwriters featured on the album. Max Fleischer is the animation genius behind Betty Boop and Popeye, he was rocking nyc and the rest of america from his Fleischer studios base in times square in the early 30's  and giving walt disney on the west coast a run for his money.
Gary is currently collaborating with Steve Kilbey (The Church), and Chris Shinn (new lead singer of Live),
and was (this fall) Music Director of “State of Grace,” a multi-artist Australian tribute to Tim and Jeff Buckley.
Born in Germany and raised in Kenya, South Africa and the United States, Jann Klose is currently collaborating with Ann Hampton Callaway, Renaissance’s Annie Haslam, Hall & Oates’ John Oates and The Yardbirds’ Jim McCarty. In 2015 Jann and his music appeared in the short film THE BEAUTY OF DISASTER (Glimmer Girl, USA) and the award-winning Australian feature documentary A VENUE FOR THE END OF THE WORLD (BrinkVision, USA). His most recent album, MOSAIC won three 2014 Independent Music Awards and charted for several months on the AMA and Roots Rock charts.
Gary and Jann both worked on the movie GREETINGS FROM TIM BUCKLEY (Tribeca Film/Focus/Universal). Jann is the singing voice of Tim Buckley, while Gary consulted and played guitar. Tony Award winner Frank Wood plays Gary in the film.
Gary and Jann will be performing select shows together this Spring in the United States.
It is my great pleasure to welcome Gary Lucas and Jann Klose to the Ray Shasho Show!

THE RAY SHASHO SHOW WELCOMES J.GEILS BAND LEGEND MAGIC DICK & INTERNATIONAL MUSIC SENSATION SHUN NG

RAY SHASHO INTERVIEWS
THE MUSICAL COLLABORATION OF
 MAGIC DICK & SHUN NG

Our Very Special Guests Today is the collaborating musical duo of
MAGIC DICK & SHUN NG

Magic Dick the legendary harmonica player for Boston’s J. Geils Band has recently partnered up with guitar and vocal sensation, Shun Ng, to create one of the most dynamic musical acts to come out of Boston in a long time. The music is soulful blues, rockin’ yet thoughtful and performed by arguably two of the top musicians at their respective instruments. Since 1969, Magic Dick has toured the world playing and blowing away clubs and stadiums with the J. Geils Band. He explains the formation of the duo:

“From the moment I first heard Shun Ng’s CD “Funky Thumb Stuff” I knew that a manifest musical collaboration was about to happen. Shun’s sound simply made me feel very alive and induced in me a synchronous alignment of musical DNA as if it was his intention as well as mine all along! I helped it along by asking his manager, Ralph Jaccodine to introduce us at his office. A long and enlightening conversation happened on that day of our first meeting and now we are a duo and I couldn’t be more delighted.”

Shun Ng was born in Chicago, raised in Singapore now based out of Boston. At 24 years old, he is already an international star, a soulful, world-class guitarist, vocalist, and electric performer who in a short period of time, has caught the attention of the top players in the music world including Quincy Jones who said: “When you see Shun Ng, you won’t believe your eyes nor your ears – he belies all stereotypes, all premonitions. I was simply blown away by both his soul and his science – his creativity and his uniqueness is astounding.”

“In this collaboration with Magic Dick,” Shun says, “we wanted to make music in a way that no one had quite done before while remaining grounded in our roots. Magic Dick brings a powerhouse attack with ferocious precision and a killer groove to this duo. I have great respect for him, he has seemingly done it all, but is still constantly trying to push the boundaries of music and chase the best in himself, a true artist. To be working with a true Boston legend is a real privilege.”
